Allis Township Public Hearing on July 14 - Zoning Amendment - renewable energy

The Allis Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on July 14, 2025, at 5 PM to recommend adoption of an ordinance which amends the Zoning Ordinance to the Township Board. The public hearing will be held at the Township Hall at 20018 W 638 Hwy, Onaway MI 49765.  The full text of the amendment is available by clicking below. Written comments may be sent to the above address prior to the meeting.  The public may appear at the public hearing in person or by counsel. The proposed amendment is as follows:

 Amend Article III (Definitions) to add definitions for solar energy facilities, wind energy facilities, and battery energy storage systems.

 Amend 9.03 to add solar energy facilities and wind energy facilities to the agriculture resource district as a special use.

 Amend 11.03 to add battery energy storage systems, off-site, to the manufacturing district as a special use.

 Add Section 15.20 to apply regulations to Accessory Solar Panels. Add Section 15.21 to apply regulations to Solar Energy Facilities. Add Section 15.22 to apply regulations to Accessory Wind Turbines. Add Section 15.23 to apply regulations to Wind Energy Facilities. Add Section 15.24 to apply regulations to Off-Site Battery Energy Storage Systems.
