IMM Inc. Trains 21 Staff Thanks to Going PRO Talent Fund Award

With the help of Michigan Works!, IMM Inc. applied for Going PRO Talent Fund training dollars to help train their staff. They were awarded $32,885 to train twenty-one workers in blueprint reading and rigger signaling. IMM reports the training has positively impacted their operations, especially since they require a certified rigger signal person to be on staff.

Owner Libby Doering states, "The rigger signalperson training provided a new layer of safety for the traveling employees on the jobsites. It heightened their awareness of rigging and life threatening hazards. They learned how to check the equipment correctly for safety along with learning the correct signaling for communication when transporting equipment in the air. It has given the company the ability to pass inspection and perform jobs with competent employees.

The blue print training course allowed the employees to expand their understanding and capabilities in reading the engineered drawings. They are now able to call out discrepancies in the engineered drawings to limit the rework and increase the efficiency of production. The employees are now able to recognize the hazards on the prints and correct them before they become a safety hazard."
