Avery Township Zoning Amendment Public Hearing
The Avery Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on January 22, 2026, at 6 pm to recommend adoption of an ordinance which amends the zoning ordinance to the Township Board. The public hearing will be held at the Township Hall 11010 McMurphy Rd, Atlanta. The full text of the new Zoning Ordinance is available below, or by calling (989) 785-3278. Written comments may be sent to PO Box 665, Atlanta, MI 49709 prior to the meeting. The public may appear at the public hearing in person or by counsel. A summary of the amendment is as follows:
Amend Section 4.5 (Rec-1 District), Section 4.6 (R-2 District), Section 4.9 (Agricultural District), and Section 4.14 (Table of Permitted and Special Uses) to add two-family dwelling units as a permitted use. Amend Section 3.21 (Fences) to remove the requirement for a zoning permit for fences.
