We need your help, Alpena – please join our Alpena Resource Recovery team in the Alpena Community Recycling Challenge!

Our goal is to double Alpena County’s recycling record for the amount of plastic, paper and cardboard collected and shipped to market over a roughly one-year span by Dec. 31, 2019.

Alpena Resource Recovery established a new record last year for those three materials, with a combined 1.16 million pounds.

We’ve already surpassed that amount this year by 50,000 pounds, collecting and shipping to market 1.21 million pounds of recycled plastic, paper and cardboard through July 31, 2019.

Now, we want to collect another 800,000 pounds by Dec. 31 to reach 2 million pounds in recycled plastic, paper and cardboard, which by volume are the three materials most commonly tossed in recycling bins.

Stay tuned – our next update for the Alpena Community Recycling Challenge is Sept. 9!
