The Northern Michigan Community Corrections Advisory Board (NMCCAB) supports the fair and equitable treatment of offenders using the least restrictive sentencing option available to the courts, consistent with the individual treatment needs of the offender and with the safety of the general public always being of paramount concern.
How Does Community Corrections Work?
Community Corrections provides local sanctions for low-risk, non-assaultive offenders in lieu of jail, or to reduce the length of incarceration. These sanctions include employment, education, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, and community service. These services address client specific needs and aid in reducing recidivism.
