HISTORY of the Planning Process
NEMCOG presented the Iron Belle Trail concept, potential route and funding sources to the Ogemaw EDC in March 2017 and the Ogemaw MTA in April 2017.
A "kickoff" meeting with stakeholders (government officials, MDNR, known trail advocates, etc.) was held on April 18, 2017 to discuss potential routes for the Iron Belle Trail through the County. View the April 18 presentation and meeting discussion notes.
A second follow-up meeting was held with stakeholders on May 24, 2017 to discuss details of opportunities and potential issues, and next steps for pursuing the preferred route concept generated from the first stakeholder meeting. View the May 24 presentation and meeting discussion notes.
MDNR staff have also provided helpful information about the proposed route pertaining to land use limitations, where DNR land is located along the route, etc.
