Domino's Utilizes Michigan Works! for Hiring/Training Help

Domino’s Pizza was opening a new store in Alpena, but the building they purchased needed to be remodeled and the nearest branch store was 70 miles away, which was making the interviewing/hiring process difficult. Manager Matt Mckelvie turned to Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium for help.

Michigan Works! collected applications for Domino’s for a few weeks and then offered Matt a conference room to conduct interviews. One day of interviews became four, along with another day of open walk-in interviews. After all the interviews were completed and hires were made, training was to begin. With weather related travel concerns, Matt didn’t want his 23 trainees driving 70 miles to training, so Matt utilized Michigan Works! once again. After learning what Matt required, Michigan Works! in Alpena offered their classroom for the Domino’s training, which worked out wonderfully.

Thanks to the assistance of Michigan Works!, the new Domino’s branch in Alpena will be ready to open, with staff hired and trained by the time the building is ready.
