Vanderbilt Seniors Tour Northwestern Michigan College and Grand Traverse Resort

Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium Youth Career Advisor, Beth Michaels, and Business Services Professional, Jennifer Coughlin, took five Vanderbilt senior students on a college tour of Northwestern Michigan College, followed by a talent tour at Grand Traverse Resort. All students are enrolled in the WIOA Youth Program. At NMC, students listened to a presentation on the programs NMC offers and the benefits of going to a community college, followed by a walking tour of the campus. The students loved seeing the dorms and the college life.

After the college tour, students went on to the Grand Traverse Resort for a Talent Tour, which showed them a variety of career opportunities at the resort. They had a behind the scenes tour and were able to see a variety of kitchens, the Aerie Restaurant at the top of the resort, and the spa's pool and tennis courts. Tour guides discussed the education requirements for various positions, ranging from high school diploma to college degree. Also covered was internship opportunities for high school and college students during the summer.
