On the Road to Independence

After relocating to Atlanta, MI a few months ago, two-parent family Jessica Dell and Thomas Rushlow quickly learned that job searching in a rural area with no transportation was extremely difficult. Being without a vehicle was a huge barrier to them finding employment, so they turned to Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium for assistance.

Michigan Works! Case Manager/Trainer, Cassie Rogers, was able to assist Jessica and Thomas with a $2000 vehicle purchase, as well as two months’ worth of car insurance. After obtaining their vehicle two weeks ago, they’ve already had multiple employment interviews and will soon be on the road to financial independence.

“Michigan Works! helped us out a lot,” says Thomas Rushlow. “Without Michigan Works! we would have nothing, or have to walk everywhere. We are very grateful.”
