Helping Employers Find Quality Candidates
Dean Arbour Ford hosted booths at previous job fairs, but they always left disappointed, until they started working with Michigan Works! Business Solutions Professional Bernadette Schuelke. Hearing of the challenges Dean Arbour Ford was having finding qualified candidates, she suggested they participate in a Michigan Works! Career Fair, as well as post their open positions on Pure Michigan Talent Connect (PMTC). Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the candidates attending the Michigan Works! career fair, they ended up hiring one full-time office manager from the career fair and two part-time car detailers from PMTC applicants.
Larry Studley, Dean Arbour General Manager, remarks, “The Michigan Works! career fair, the candidates and the facility exceeded my expectations. We took part in a different career fair a few years ago and came away very disappointed. The candidates were not dressed for a career fair, very few had prepared resumes, and we hired no one. This year’s event was totally different! All the candidates had prepared resumes, many were dressed very professionally, and we have hired three people so far! The entire fair had a much more professional feel to it and we are very pleased with the results. Great job!”
