Solar & Wind Training - February 2, 2023 at 6 pm
Renewable energy is on the rise in Michigan. Is this an opportunity or threat for your jurisdiction? Find out at a special session presented by NEMCOG. To make sure local governments are prepared, NEMCOG has invited Dr. Sarah Mills and Madeleine Krol from the University of Michigan to discuss why communities in Northeast Michigan need to start planning and zoning for renewable energy now. This session is a follow-up to "Introduction to Planning & Zoning for Renewable Energy."
Specifically, we'll dig into more details on:
- The compatibility (or incompatibility) of solar and wind with common master plan goals
- How to translate this into your zoning ordinance, looking at key elements of the zoning provisions.
