Two Parent Family Finds PATH to Full-Time Employment

Northeast Consortium Michigan Works! Case Manager Kay Golnick originally began working with PATH clients Stella Brown and Roy Whittaker back in 2013, but their case was closed for non-compliance. At that time they attempted AEP, but did not succeed. Fortunately, this time their PATH journey had a different outcome.

On April 1st, Roy and Stella attended AEP orientation with Kay and on April 8th they were given an assignment to attend Garland Lodge for their April 10th Job Fair. Clothing vouchers were given to them both for interview clothing and a referral was made to the Department of Health & Human Services for a gas card to get to Wal-Mart to purchase the clothes and to get to the job fair at Garland Lodge.

On April 13th they got the call that they were both hired by Garland Lodge and on May 6th their PATH case was closed due to income. While both Roy and Stella lacked high school diplomas, they learned to use life-learned skills to obtain full-time employment. Roy is now a groundskeeper and Stella works in the housekeeping department.

This two parent family learned to never give up searching for full-time, self-sustaining employment and to utilize and market the skills you have.
