Michigan Works! Helps Client Overcome Multiple Barriers to Pursue Welding Certification

Ashli Receives Welding Certificate

Most of her life Ashli has struggled with social disorders, such as anxiety and disorientation, making it hard for her to be around people. She’s been working with a team of professionals to mitigate and rectify the symptoms and came to Michigan Works! for career assistance.

Ashli’s goal was to obtain her welding certification. With help from Michigan Works!, Ashli received classroom training assistance, as well as mileage assistance to/from her classes and to/from her job, while she attended her welding classes.

Ashli had multiple barriers to overcome to achieve her goals, but thanks to the help Michigan Works! provided, Ashli has now received her welding certificate from the Industrial Arts Institute in Onaway, MI. Not only did Michigan Works! help with the training assistance, but they helped with the car issues and relocation concerns too (Ashli had to find a new place to live that accepted her therapy dog while she was taking her welding classes).

Grateful, Ashli told Michigan Works! Career Advisor Beth Michaels, “Thank you so much for all that you and Michigan Works! have done, to be used by the Lord, to help and empower me in reaching this goal.”
