City of Grayling Sewer Replacement Grant

This is to give notice that the City of Grayling has conducted an evaluation as required by Executive Order 11988, in accordance with HUD regulations at 24 CFR 55.20 Subpart C Procedures for Making Determinations on Floodplain Management, to determine the potential affect that its activity in the floodplain and wetland will have on the human environment. The proposed $1.7 million project is being funded by an Infrastructure Capacity Enhancement Grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and includes the replacement of the existing 10-inch diameter asbestos cement (AC) force main with a new 14-inch diameter High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) force main. The proposed force main (9,200 lineal feet) will be installed from the Maple Street Pumping Station to the city's wastewater treatment facility. A second 4-inch force main (340 lineal feet) will be installed from the lift station in the industrial park and connect to the 14-inch force main.  Pipe will be installed by directional drilling to minimize surface disruption.  The proposed pipe route includes crossing under the AuSable River, Interstate 75, and an active railroad track.  A 24-inch casing pipe will be installed at the railroad crossing by jacking and boring. The project will cross under approximately 170 feet of floodplain of the Au Sable River.

The proposed project(s) is located along Maple St, State St, M-72 and Industrial St in the City of Grayling, Crawford County.
