Northern Michigan Transportation Company Trains HR Staff In Preparation For New Hires
Prell Services is a Northern Michigan transportation company providing safe, reliable, and affordable transportation to Alpena and the surrounding county residents. They are a strong community leader and a devoted Michigan Works! advocate and collaborative partner. Michigan Works! PATH participants and public community of job seekers are very fortunate with the services Prell provides, as well as Prell’s willingness to work with Michigan Works! to help get individuals without transportation to and from work.
Alpena is currently working on implementing a new trolley transportation system, which will have dedicated stops/times, allowing for more consistency and regularity to accommodate riders’ work schedules and others in need of transportation services. With this new venture, Prell will need to hire and train more employees. Prell needed to train their Human Resources person in Human Resource Law to prepare for this additional staffing, and so they worked with Michigan Works! to secure a Skilled Trade Training Fund grant to pay for the training.
Thanks to the STTF grant, Prell’s Human Resource Manager, Kimberly Nowak, received training in Human Resource Law via the National Business Institute. This training will help Prell prepare for the additional staffing they anticipate over the next few years.
