Michigan Works! Helps Worker Come Full Circle
When Cindy R. was laid off from Lake Superior State University (LSSU), she came to Michigan Works! in Alpena for assistance in finding a new job.
Cindy was in the Alpena office often and Michigan Works! Talent Specialist, Barb Timm, assisted her with faxed and online job applications. Barb also provided encouragement and emailed Cindy job postings often.
Cindy accepted a part-time job with MSU Extension, then shortly after, a full-time position with Stratford Group, before she ended up being called back to LSSU. She is currently employed again at LSSU with good pay and state benefits.
Cindy says, “I was laid off for 6 months. The staff and resources available to me at the Michigan Works! office were such a wonderful help to me. Barb T. went above and beyond to assist me with procuring employment.”
