Since coming to Grayling in 1994, World of Floors has continued to grow, offering customers quality products and exceptional customer service. This continued growth has spurred the need for additional employees, as well as additional employee training, so as to meet customer’s needs. With the help of Michigan Works!, World of Floors was awarded a training grant of $2,800 in 2016 thanks to the Skilled Trade Training Fund. They utilized this award to provide on-site training for two staff members in Quick Books. The training was offered by Kirtland Community College and has made a tremendous impact on World of Floor’s business operations.

“I’m able to reconcile sales and have a better financial picture of my business through reporting and forecasting. I’ve even found new areas where I can incorporate deductions when filling my taxes,” reports World of Floors’ Tammy Whitley. “Understanding how to use Quick Books has given our employees better knowledge in creating estimates, bids, quotations, and handling of accounts receivable and payables, thus saving time and money for the company.”

World of Floors has expanded their business with a new store in Lewiston and looks to continue their success. They continue to work with Michigan Works! for their employment needs and plan to pursue future STTF awards to further their Quick Books training.

Whitley says, "The ability to learn Quick Books has given me more control of my business and operations. I'm grateful World of Floors was awarded training dollars for myself and another employee to learn the program. It has helped our business tremendously!"
