About Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium
The Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium is a governmental organization formed under Michigan Public Act 7. Since its inception in 1974, it has evolved into a multi-purpose unit, offering services including employment services, job training, and related economic development activities and services. Funding is provided by the State of Michigan, various federal grants and other sources as appropriate.
Planning, coordination and management are provided by an administrative staff in conjunction with an Administrative Board, a Workforce Development Board, and advised by a Career & Education Advisory Council. Adult programs and services are delivered through eight local county Michigan Works! offices, covering Alcona, Alpena, Cheboygan, Crawford, Montmorency, Oscoda, Otsego and Presque Isle counties, while a variety of youth programs are provided through educational partners.
